His half-hour, often halting speech to the young cadets, was primarily a memorial to the U.S. It’s the Sylvanus Thayer Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the USMA.ĮICHER: General MacArthur was 82 years old when he made what was to be his final appearance at his alma mater.
